James Daniel Anderson, beloved father, grandfather, and faithful servant, passed away on April 1, 2025, at the age of 85. James was known for his warm heart, deep faith, and strong love for his family, who will forever cherish his memory.
His devoted children survive him: son Jim Anderson and daughter-in-law Patti Anderson; grandchildren Jon Barrett and his spouse Kelley Barrett, along with their children Jonathan (17), Kourtney (13), and Nolan (21 months); and Christian Barrett and his spouse Julie Barrett, along with their son Isaiah (12); daughter Tamara Daniels and son-in-law James Daniels; son Clint Allen, along with his daughters Elianna (10) and Jolie (9); son Andrew Anderson and daughter-in-law Valarie Anderson, along with their children Alexis (20), Dane (18), Hailey (18), and Kate (13); and son Dwayne Anderson and daughter-in-law Maureen Anderson, along with their children Cooper (22), Delaney (18), and Kain (17). James leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be cherished and passed down for generations.
James was a dedicated and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he spent much of his later years serving as a temple worker, finding peace and purpose in his service. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he found joy in sharing that with those around him.
As a family man, James could always be found in the gym bleachers or along the field cheering on his children and grandchildren at their various sporting events. He enjoyed family dinners, lively game nights, and cherished every moment spent with family. His home was always filled with laughter and love as he created lasting memories with his loved ones.
James was also an avid collector of antique books and coins. He spent many hours searching for rare treasures and had amassed an extensive collection that reflected his curiosity and appreciation for history. As a skilled storyteller, he could captivate anyone with tales from his childhood and the adventures of his life. His stories brought joy to those who listened, and his legacy will live on in the many lessons he shared.
Professionally, James worked as an engineer at the Hanford site, where he applied his skills and dedication to his work. He was well-respected by colleagues and friends alike for his knowledge, work ethic, and willingness to help others.
Though James has left this world, his influence will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who were touched by his kindness, humor, and faith.
A memorial service to honor James’s life will be held at Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home in Richland, WA, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, with a viewing beginning at 11 am, followed by a service at 1 pm, and grave side services at 2 pm. The family invites all those whose lives were touched by James to join them in celebrating his life and legacy.
James’s life was one of service, love, and devotion, and he will forever be remembered for the impact he made on the lives of those who knew him.
I’m Jim’s cousin in CO. His mom & my grandma were sisters.
We’ve had many very long phone conversations sharing memories & family stories.
Jim was a kind & loving person. He loved telling jokes ( got that from his dad) & had a contagious laugh.
We were miles & miles apart but had a strong family connection & love.
As with all loved ones that have left this earth, Jim will always hold a special part of my heart!
Jim was a very kind, thoughtful person that I had the pleasure of getting to know and help take care of. He was a wealth of knowledge and loved sharing that knowledge. He was a funny man and enjoyed sharing his joke’s ( he had pages of them). He was very proud of his family and all of their accomplishments bragging about them often. You will truly be missed. Rest in peace.
My mother and I were reunited with my father in 1944. We moved into 216 Cullum. I was 4 years old. The next day I met Jim. He was 5. We became best friends and remained good friends for 81 years. I have many wonderful memories of our friendship together. Over the years whenever I would get to Richland I would always make time to visit Jim. We also spent many hours chatting on the phone.
I remember Jim’s smile and especially his laugh. He was kind hearted and never seemed to rush. When we would come to visit, he loved going out to eat and one of his favorite things were pancakes with ligonberry jam! I will always have fond memories of him.
Jim was an amazing man who deeply loved his family . He took pride in teaching me how to cook. I’ll think of him every poached egg I see. He will be missed by all.
