Frances A Wilson

Frances Anne Wilson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, was born June 30, 1942, in Los Angeles, California; and left this earthly home surrounded by her loving family on March 31, 2025, in Richland.
Frances lived in the Los Angeles area until 1946 before the family moved to Payson, Utah where she spent her younger years.  In 1950, Frances, along with her four sisters, moved to Richland in the back of an open panel truck with furniture stacked around them as a wind barrier for their father to take a job at the Hanford Nuclear Site after the Manhattan Project.  There, Frances attended Marcus Whitman Elementary, as well as Carmichael Middle School.  The family later settled in Benton City, Washington where Frances attended Kiona-Benton High School and where she met her future husband, Walter. Frances worked at The Dip In Restaurant in Kiona during her high school years and had many fond memories of being involved in student council, pep club, choir, and other activities before graduating in 1960.  Frances and Walter married on April 15, 1961, and moved to Pasco, Washinton where they lived until 1976 then settled back to Benton City where they raised their five children on the Wilson family farm.
Frances, or Fran, everyone called her, was our very own “Martha Stewart” as she was an amazing seamstress, gardener, cook, cake decorator and perfectionist.  She was a stay-at-home mother and took in sewing to earn extra money for the family.  She created beautiful cakes and sewed handmade clothing for various families in the area for years.  Fran took pride in raising and loving her family unconditionally.  She was a life-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the gospel.  She served in many callings over the years and was of service to many in need of a hot meal, good conversation, teaching a class or sewing a garment or newborn baby blanket for someone in the ward.
Frances had a kind heart, giving spirit, endless funny stories and an infectious laugh. She will be missed by many.
Frances is proceeded in death by her father Woodrow, mother Annie, sister Judy, husband Walter and loving son Troy.  She is survived by her son Todd of Winslow, Arizona, daughter Teri (John) of Richland, son Tyler of Benton City, daughter Traci of Benton City and daughter in law Rebecca of Phoenix, Arizona.  She is also survived by grandchildren Tiffany, Emily, Rachael, Avery, Graham, Luke, Anthony and Wyatt, as well as her eight little great-grandbabies, and caring family member Cheryl Wilson.
There will be a memorial service held at the LDS Church, 1101 Fay Ave, Benton City to celebrate Fran’s life at 2:00pm on Monday, April 7th with a viewing beforehand.  Graveside dedication will follow at the Evergreen Cemetary, Benton City.

  • To the family of Fran Wilson!
Obituary told so many of the things that I loved about Fran. Through the years, I have enjoyed spending time with her working with her, getting to know her. She had a great love for each of her children. And a great love for the farm that they all worked on. Our condolences go out to each of you.

  • Aunt Fran.. I want to thank you for all the shopping trips you took my sister and I on when we came out to visit my dad. My youngest son remembers you and Uncle Walt the most. He remembers making jewelry with you both. For me… Aunt Fran was a home base.. as is Aunt Sharon. Your mom always sent me birthday cards and Christmas cards. She always included my sister and I and I will always love and respect her for that. You now join the love of your life and your son in heaven Aunt Fran. Love you!
