DeVearl Jensen
DeVearl (Dev) Alden Jensen, 86, passed away at his home in Richland, WA on Friday, March 21, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He was born August 27, 1938, in Salt Lake City, UT and moved to Richland, WA at a young age with his family. Dev, also known as “Toad”, graduated a Richland Bomber, Class of 1956. Dev was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle and friend.
Dev served six years in the Army National Guard and upon his return home to Richland, he met his wife of 62 years, Carole Duguay. After a short courtship they were married and started their family of three kids. They spent many weekends at the family lot in Packwood with family and friends and enjoyed attending the kids’ sporting events. In 2000 Dev retired from the State of Washington, as a claims investigator and began life without an alarm clock. He always enjoyed boating outings on the Columbia River & in the San Juan Islands with family & friends and pet sitting for his kids and grandkids. He was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to all kinds of music. Having strong faith in God, he was a member of The Intercontinental Church of God, using his time and talents to record and distribute the church’s sermons to members all over the world.
Dev is proceeded in death by his parents, Alden & Pearl Jensen and sister VaLate Eller. Dev is survived by his wife, Carole Jensen; his children and their spouses; Linda (Michael) Anthony, Susan (Dev) Littlejohn, Scott (Marisa) Jensen. Granddaughters, Tricia (Daniel), Sorensen and Lindsey Littlejohn. Great Grandchildren Lincoln, Finn, Arthur & Olive Sorensen, and Niece Kathy (Pat) Cleppe.
This generous, jovial, humble, protective, kind, fun-loving man will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Gardens in Richland, WA , followed by a Celebration of Life at the West Richland Golf Course Clubhouse, 4000 Fallon Drive, West Richland, WA.
The family would like to thank Ana Bucio and the staff of “At Home Staffing” for their kindness, friendship and compassion during these last few months.
I’m so glad I got to spend time with Dev through the years. He was a very special man. Hugs to all.
