Carolyn Butler Klein

Carolyn Butler Klein peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Carolyn was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 4, 1940. Her family moved often in her youth, allowing her to experience many different places and attend several schools. Carolyn briefly attended Brigham Young University in 1959 before returning to California, where she met Richard Klein in San Luis Obispo. He proposed after five days, and they were married three months later in the Los Angeles Temple on September 28, 1960.

A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carolyn loved serving others and found joy in her hobbies. She had a deep love of reading, which enriched her life and provided her with endless adventures through the pages of books. Additionally, she was passionate about cooking and baking, often preparing wonderful meals and sharing her delicious recipes with family and friends. Carolyn also enjoyed the art of doll making, a craft that allowed her to express her creativity and share her love with those around her.

Carolyn loved her friends and shared stories of their many luncheons and time spent visiting. She treasured those friendships. She often expressed her gratitude for calls, rides, and meals brought to her by her dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and her parents, Ruben and Maurine Butler. Carolyn is survived by her sisters, Mary and Donna, her brother, David and her five children, Chris (Julee), Scott (Lynelle), Jason (Dannette), Brooke, and Courtney, along with 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
