Kaden Douglas Shaw

Kaden Douglas Shaw was born on November 1, 1997, in Ogden, Utah. Kaden passed away at the age of 25 on August 25, 2023, in Spokane, WA. We were beyond blessed to have him in our lives. Kaden was a kind-hearted person who loved and accepted people for who they were. He was non-judgmental and had a free-spirited soul. Kaden found peace in nature and surrounded himself with his loved ones. His smile lit up the room and his laugh was contagious. He gave great hugs and told his mom often, “I love you, Ma. Don’t worry about me- I know you will, but I got this.” Kaden was best friends with his brother Kyler. He was very close with his sister, Hailey. They shared many great conversations and moments together. The three of them were the best of friends.

Kaden was a hard worker and had a passion for welding. He pursued a career as a welder and for the past five years, he excelled in his skills and talent. He took pride in his work.

In his spare time, Kaden indulged in his love for music and playing the guitar. He taught himself to play by listening to music and had a particular talent for playing the blues. We will forever miss the sound of him playing the guitar filling our home. Kaden’s musical abilities extended to playing the piano as well. He was a talented artist and won many art contests and talent shows as a child. Kaden’s creativity also extended to building various items, including robots during his time at Delta High. As a little boy, he could put together Bionicals and complete a Rubics cube. Kaden also loved playing baseball. He played basketball and shot hoops with his brother and friends often. His favorite football team was the Cowboys.

Kaden was deeply loved by his family and will be forever missed. He is survived by his mother, Angela Shaw; sister, Hailey Shaw; brother, Kyler Shaw; and stepfather, Paul Briggs; Papa, Larry Pennock. He has many aunts, uncles, cousins, step siblings, and extended family. Kaden was preceded in death by his Nana, Chris Pennock, stepbrother Jack Briggs, and uncle Jack Pennock. I am sure they are playing catch and jamming up in heaven.

Kaden attended Richland High and Delta High School, and later pursued higher education at ATC Tech in Ogden, Utah to become certified in welding.

A celebration of Kaden’s life will be held at Einan’s at Sunset in Richland, WA. The celebration will be for his mother’s side of the family as well as Kaden’s close friends here in Washington. The ceremony will be a casual gathering to honor Kaden’s memory and cherish the moments we shared with him. In accordance with Kaden’s wishes, please do not bring flowers. Instead, you may write a letter to him, which will be placed and sealed in the niche with him. The celebration will include a slideshow, pictures, and music, reflecting the joy and love that Kaden brought into the lives of those around him.

Kaden ~ I hope you are resting in peace, pain free. Maybe you finally got that motorcycle you were working so hard to get, playing your music, and excelling in whatever great tasks God has given you. I still feel your presence. Suddenly, a man stood where a boy used to be. I may not carry you in my arms anymore, but I will always carry you in my heart. You have given me so many reasons to be proud of the man you had become. The proudest moment for me is telling others that you are my son. Until we meet again son, I love you beyond measure. Hugs to heaven!

The compassionate staff at Sunset Gardens in Richland, Washington, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Celebration of life will be held for mother’s side of the family and Kaden’s friends on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 11:30-12:30 at Sunset Gardens.

  • We like the photo! I still struggle with sad moments that come and go like I am sure you are feeling too. We don’t want to outlive our grandchildren! Steve talks about Kaden a lot and misses him. He put a star in the backyard and he bought a Cowboy jersey after Kaden converted him to his team. I hope you are all healing as well. We know we will see him again. Jesus Christ made that possible and we can be glad about that.
