Jon Earle Farris

Jon Earle Farris was born January 9, 1952, in Livingston, MT.  His parents, Wilma Joy and Calvin H. Farris moved the family to Klamath Falls, OR and later to Tri-Cities, WA where they resided in Kennewick, Richland, and West Richland.  While attending school at Columbia High Richland, Jon was involved in wrestling and loved working in the theater world.  He thoroughly enjoyed making sets for the school’s theatrical productions as well as for the Richland Light Opera.

It was at Columbia High that Jon met Linda Marie Crane.  After graduation, and a 3 1/2-year stint with the Air Force, Jon and Linda were married in Richland, WA on May 10, 1974.  While living in Richland, they were excited to start family life as they welcomed their two children, Maria Joy and Patrick Joseph, into their home.

Jon worked at several jobs including a retail store clerk, yard dog driver at Tyson Foods, waste clean-up at Hanford, and a security officer assigned to Lamb Weston.  He officially retired from Tyson Foods in 2012 as a security officer.  Jon was an active member of the Richland Moose Lodge 1716 and served as Governor for a time.  Jon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jon passed away on Aug 26, 2023, in Richland, WA soon after starting treatments for recently diagnosed cancer.  He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, grandson Kyle Wray, brothers Kenneth (Lori) and Gene (Julie) and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Jon was preceded in death by his parents, both of his children, Maria and Patrick, and his sister Martina Lehman.

  • My condolences to Jon’s circle of family & friends. I got to know the whole Farris family back in the 60s when I lived on Kimball in Richland. Our families shared a back yard. I hung around with his brother Gene mostly. Often though the 3 of us played hoops at a neighbor court. Or head down to a local park & hit baseballs. Seeing Jon’s obituary saddens me. Fond memories of that family & times.
