From Kennewick, WA | Born in Mena, Arkansas
Darrell Edgar Dean
Passed away July 1st at Legacy Adult Family Home in Kennewick after many years of health challenges. Born in Mena, Arkansas, Aug 20,1946, to Norman and Verniece Dean, Darrell was the oldest of four, grew up in Richland and graduated from Columbia High, Class of ‘64.
In March ‘65 he enlisted in the US Marine Corp and proudly served our nation in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged Dec ‘68 with a Naval Commendation medal with a combat V (for heroism in combat).
He married in 1969 and welcomed his daughter, Brandy Mae in Oct ‘72. Some of his favorite memories were of Brandy and the cousins exploring and learning life lessons from him in the desserts around Rancho Reata.
After completing an Electrician journeyman’s Apprenticeship he was employed by Lord Electric and other contractors and was a 46 yr member of the IBEW local 112. He was an instructor for a few years at the Apprenticeship training center and even started his own electrical contracting business, Dean Electric, in ‘84. Darrell was well known in his trade and around the Hanford site, as well as on, numerous local commercial projects. He was highly respected for his resourcefulness and work ethic.
Darrell was an avid hunter and shared that love with family & friends in the forests of the Blues. After retiring he enjoyed spending his time outdoors & working on various projects at home and at his mountain cabin.
His proudest moments were in spending time with his daughter, Brandy, and granddaughters, Jacey & Jessa.
Always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and neighbors, he will be most remembered for his kindness, generosity and gratitude.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandy Dean (Gary McManus), granddaughters, Jacey and Jessa Headley, brother, Donnie Dean (Cathy), sisters, Norma Corrado (Steve Stull), and Janice Isdell (Mike), numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Tri-Cities and Arkansas. He is predeceased by his parents, Norman (‘96) & Verniece Dean (‘22), and nephew, Jeffery Johansen (‘07).
A special thank you to the staffs of Brookdale Meadow Springs, Legacy Adult Family Home, and Fresenius Kidney Care , for their compassionate care and dedication over the years.
Private graveside interment with Military Honors will be at Einan”s Sunset Gardens, Richland.
Sorry to the Dean Family for their lost. It was a pleasure knowing Darrell, we worked together at Lord Electric for many years. He was an amazing friend.
Although I haven’t seen Darrell in many years, we became friends in high school. Darrell set across from me in study hall. We went out a few times. He was always kind and had a great sense of humor, and we had fun. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing, and I wish his family peace and God’s blessings.
