Nicholas James Marske
Nicholas James (Nic) Marske was born on December 15, 1995 in Richland, Washington to Dawn (Hull)
Marske and Steven Marske. Despite enormous health obstacles in his life, Nic was the light and joy of
our lives. He loved to laugh, especially at the sound of wrapping paper being torn as gifts were opened,
or of the blusterous greetings of his Papa. He loved to give hugs if he knew he might sneak in a little hair
pull, especially that of his sisters or care givers. Bus trips with school classmates and making his way
around the house in his wheelchair were common adventures Nic enjoyed. His laugh was infectious and
loud, and once he got started, it was hard to get him to stop. He continuously reminded us to never take
anything for granted and to enjoy what many others might consider “small things” in ways we never
thought possible. He died on March 27, 2023, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland,
Washington.
Nic is survived by his parents, Dawn and Steve Marske, and his twin sisters, Hanna and Lindsey Marske.
He is also survived by his grandparents (Jim and Anita Hull, and Janet Becker); his aunts (Charlynn Hull,
Mary Hull, Wendy Marske, Carrie Becker); his uncles (Josh Hull, Daryl Marske, Tim Marske, Ron Becker,
and Ken Becker); and numerous first cousins.
Nicholas’ wings were ready, but our hearts were not. He will be forever missed.
A celebration to commemorate of Nic’s life will be held at Sunset Gardens with a Reception to follow at Einan’s Funeral Home
June 17, 2023, at 11:00am.

Donations to charities and hospitals supporting children and adults with developmental needs like Nic
are highly encouraged. Such organizations, include (but are not limited to): Special Olympics, Seattle
Children’s Hospital, the ARC of Washington and the Tri-Cities, and the Children’s Developmental Center.
These entities provide unmeasurable impacts to those in need of special care (and to their associated
families).
Steve, Dawn and family – I am sorry to hear of Mic’s passing. Being the grandparent of a special needs child I know the grief you are experiencing with his passing. I also know the joy that Mic brought to all who knew him and loved him. Mic you are free to fly now but continue to watch over those that you loved and that loved you unconditionally.
Steve & Dawn, Ruth and I were so sorry to read about Nick’s passing. We may live many miles away, but our thoughts are with your family at this difficult time.
I worked with Nic at Enterprise MS in the Life Skills class with Ms. Davis, Mrs. Weikum, and Angie Huddleston. I have fond memories of my time there with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Nic was number 3 of my 13 grandchildren, and I have many fond memories of babysitting him while he was still small enough for me to carry around. But it seems like in no time he grew up and became a man, but still smiling and seemingly enjoying each day. I am now picturing him in heaven with Grandpa Scott there with him and helping him along the way. And most of all, I know that Grandpa Scott will teach him all the safety rules up there and where to find the nearest exit (not that he will need it of course!) Note* This is an inside joke only his family will appreciate.
I love you Nickolas, and in a few years I’ll be with you also.
I was one of Nic’s teachers and I still remember the day the toe of my shoe caught the carpet in the classroom and I tripped. Nic laughed so hard I had to remind him to breathe! People ask students which teacher made an impact on their lives but Nic was one of those individuals that made an impact in all our lives.
I will never forget Nicholas or the years I was lucky enough to be his teacher! He brought so much joy to every life he touched! His laugh, his smile, his sense of humor and those STINKY FEET will forever bring joy to my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
