From Richland, WA | Born in McAllen, TX
Juan Ramos Sr.
Juan Ramos, 82, of Richland, Washington, went to be with the Lord after a long happy life surrounded by his sons Abel, John, and wife Irma. Days prior he was surrounded by family from Richland, Walla Walla, Moses Lake, and Boise, Idaho.
Juan was born on September 22, 1935 in McAllen, Texas to
Frutoso and Luisa Ramos. He was the fourth child in a family of six. Juan was
raised in McAllen, traveling much with family as they worked. Close to age 18
he joined the United States Army and was a member of the 101st
Airborne Division. He served nearly two terms. In 1961, the family moved from
McAllen, Texas to Walla Walla, Washington. The summer of 1963 he met his future
wife, Irma Guel. They married and had three sons – Abel, John, and Xavier. Juan
returned to school and received his B.S. in Biology from Walla Walla College in
College Place, Washington. After graduating he worked at the Veterans
Administration Hospital in Walla Walla and later for U.S. Department of Labor,
a job for which the family moved to Seattle for four years and later to Moses
Lake until he retired in 1993. As a parent, he loved to coach his son’s little
league teams and followed them in different sports throughout high school.
After retirement from the Federal Government, he and Irma moved back to McAllen, Texas and spent the next 22 years enjoying family, trips, and involvement with the Catholic Church through the Men’s Club, ACTS, and the Knights of Columbus. Early in 2015 he and his wife returned to Washington to be closer to Abel and John in Richland.
He is survived by his wife Irma, sons Abel, John, and
daughter in law Rosie, all of Richland. Grandchildren Abel R. Ramos (Moses
Lake), Jessica, Monica, Johnny, and great grandson Elijah Stewart (Richland). Juan is also survived by his sister, Vicky Garza and brother, Joe Ramos.
Juan is preceded in death by his youngest son Xavier Ramos of Moses Lake, his parents Frutoso and Luisa Ramos, numerous relatives and three sisters Anita Aleman, Maria Flores, and Petra Flemate, all in Texas.
Juan’s family wants to thank Kadlec Hospital and Chaplaincy Hospice for the great care he received from them. Thanks for the prayers from family and friends near and far, church friends at Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen, Texas.
