Despite distances, love for our family has been deeply woven into the fabric of who we are. Donald and the west coast family is a treasured part of my being. Donald is deeply missed. I wish I could have joined the family in such a beautiful tribute to my uncle. Peace, love and healing to my cousins.

I am so sorry about the loss of Donald. He was always a good friend and we played football together in high school. My thoughts and prayers will be with in the coming days. God bless each of you. Caudill wright
I will never forget the look on Don’s face the day he walked his daughter, Karla, down the aisle on her wedding day. The joyful admiration in his eyes was clear….he was blissfully happy that day. He truly loved his little girl. That genuine smile was matched only by the snapshots I’ve seen of Don and his son, Don Jr, after a day of riding dirt bikes together. That camaraderie between father and son doing something together they both loved came through in every picture. Don would be so proud and honored at the partnership that Don Jr. and Karla, together with their families, shared in caring for him, protecting him and loving him unconditionally until he made his way home. Know that he is now in a place that only the most beautiful dreams are made of. If you thought Don could fly on a motorcycle…..just wait till you see him in wings!!
Don was my longest and best friend and I will miss his humor and company for the remainder of my life. He was always there for me and we enjoyed many adventures riding motorcycles on the highways and trails of western USA. There were many times where our engineering ideas were 180 degrees apart but they always ended up in laughter and good fun. My only regret for Don is that he never had an opportunity to retire and take life a little easier and fulfill many of his retirement dreams. So long good buddy, we will meet up again down the road I’m sure.
Don was a special friend, we worked together for many years and also rode motorcycles together. Rest in peace, Don and God bless.
praying for the family
So sorry to hear that Donald lost his fight with cancer. He was a quality guy all the way. I remember him well from all our school years together–at least 1-12 and probably kindergarten too.
Don was VERY GOOD man! Everybody liked him. He was always good to me. He was so proud of his
“Babies”. The world lost another good football player. God Bless your family. Joe Broce
Don and Karla,
My love and prayers are with you and your families during this time and always.
Dear Folks,
So sorry for your lost. Donald was a hard worker in school and a really tough athletic. Don’t remember exactly how much he weighs in high school, but he was smaller than a lot of the guys on the team. He wasn’t afraid to take on anyone on the football field. I’m sure he will be sadly missed by all.
Sincerely, Chuck
It’s with great sadness that all of us that knew Donald have lost a genuine friend. He and I were inseparable during our early years growing up on Upland Road in Blacksburg, VA and I will cherish those fond memories for ever. Donald’s mother Alice was a second mother to me and was our Cub Scout Den mother – what a sweet lady. I had the privilege of talking with Donald several times as he bravely fought to win his battle and I am so thankful for those precious minutes. Even thought we lived on opposite sides of the county for many years, my brotherly love for Donald never waned. May he now rest in peace.
My thoughts and prayers are with Donald’s family during this trying time and I am here to help in any way I may.
Much love,
Jim Bland
Don and I were dirt biking buddies in the late 70’s riding together primarily in the desert areas around Tri-Cities, WA. We were young bucks back then who thoroughly enjoyed tearing it up in the powder… especially after a little rain coated the top of the sand. Prayers to his family.
I have fond memories of dirt biking and camping on the Naches River with Don and his family. May you rest in peace. Until we meet agin my friend, Steve Doubet
You made a difference in the world. Enjoy your peace 😇❤️
May your father’s life with the angels (his friends and family) and our heavenly father be his reward for a good life here on earth. Many Blacksburg alumni has gone before him and I hope all will be greet him and a beautiful homecoming will be had by all on his last and most glorious stop. Old #40 is once again strong and healthy and free from the pains he suffered in the last years of his earthly life. God Bless all!
