Charles Frank Kovalchick
Charles
“Chick” Kovalchick, 79, born June 30, 1936 went to be with his Lord on
Wednesday August 5, 2015. Born in Osceola Mills, PA, he spent most of his life
in the Tri-Cities. He came to Tri-Cities in 1956 as a member of the US Army
medical detachment at Camp Hanford where he met his wife Maxine.
Chick
was an outdoor sportsman and enjoyed many pleasures, including family ski
trips, hunting, fishing and traveling around the U.S. with his wife, Maxine, in
their motor home.
Chick
owned a successful electrical estimating company, ESSCO Electric, in the
Tri-Cities until he chose early retirement at the age of 46. Realizing he was
not quite ready for retirement, he and Maxine embarked on a new adventure and
moved to Seattle where he worked for Cochran Electric as an electrical
estimator. Chick worked on large Seattle sky scraper projects such as the, formerly known, Washington Mutual
Tower.
Chick
is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maxine Kovalchick; his two sons Chris
Kovalchick , Greg Kovalchick; his four daughters Julie DiLiberto and husband
Tony, Kathy Ober and husband Steve, Tamara Wheeler and husband Darren, and
Angie Halley and husband Jim; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by
his beloved brothers, Joe, Jack, Frank, Bob and Jim, who all reside on the east
coast. He is preceded in death by his daughter Karen Safko.
He will
be greatly missed by his beloved wife, children, family and friends, as he was
truly a dear, sweet soul.
Rosary
will be held at 10:00am and memorial service with military honors at 11:00am at
Events at Sunset in Richland; followed by a light reception on Tuesday, August
11, 2015.
The family requests that charitable donations be made to www.dementiasociety.org in lieu of flowers.
I think of Maxine and Chick often and their devotion to their family. I hope that time has softened the hurt and that the good times remain in the hearts of each family member.
Let me first say, To the family I know you will miss Him greatly, I extend my deepest condolences to each and every one of you and pray that you all find the love of the Lord to help with your sorrow. Charles is in a much better place now and you will all be re-united again one day.
We first met back in about 1966 (The old Lord Electric days). I have always had the up most respect for Charles not only as a human being but as a great contributor to the field we both worked in! Being a salesman I can say it wasn’t always fun being in his office but he was always fair and honest with me. I had the joy of knowing Charles for probably 30 years! I say God Bless Charles…. Now let God do the estimating…
