June Irene (Fuller) Smith
June Irene (Fuller) Smith died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at
Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, WA surrounded by family. She was
born on May 20, 1929, in Rothsay, MN to Grace and George Fuller. The family
moved to Washington State from their family farm in North Dakota in 1935 where
she was raised and educated.
June married Leonard S. Smith, December 23, 1950 in Naches, WA. They were married for 48yrs at the time of Dad’s death in 1999. Mom and Dad made their home in Yakima, WA then later in Richland, WA where they raised three children.
June was a wonderful mother to her children who survive her; sons, Roger Leonard Smith (Alicia) of Pasco, WA; Jeffery Alan Smith of Richland, WA; and daughter, Janet Rose Wilson of Arlington, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jenny Hayes, Traci Smith, Amanda Anderson, Sarah Crowder and Emily Crowder; great-grandchildren, Bill, Chris, Kyle, Tyler, Koty, Kolten, Kadyen, Ryan, Jaron, Kylin and lifelong friend Pat Pinkal-Carpenter.
June was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard; parents, Grace and George Fuller; sister, Rose Mary McKinney; brother, George Fuller; granddaughter, Amy Smith; nephew, Tim McKinney and lifelong friend, Rita Davidson.
Mom thoroughly enjoyed gardening. She grew beautiful lilacs, roses and irises among others. She was a great cook as well. Her mouthwatering Sunday suppers and holiday meals were a family tradition. Mom was the most selfless caring and committed individual a family could be blessed with. She was there for each and every one of us, enriching our lives, each and every day. Her family was her life, she will be sorely missed.
Viewing will be held at Einan’s at Sunset, Richland, WA on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 1:00pm-7:00pm. A graveside service will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima, WA on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 12:00pm.
Ten days ago today my life, and the lives of my family were forever altered. We lost the greatest, most influential person of our universe. My mom was the most loving, caring, selfless, stubborn (yes, stubborn-I wonder where I got it), and quietly fierce human being ever to walk this planet.
Today I wish her the most fabulous birthday ever –
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM! Rest in peace.
My sincere sympathy to the family and friends of June. The loss of our dear loved ones can be very difficult and distressing to cope with. May you find comfort in the good and loving memories of her , remembering we are not alone- Psalm 46 : 1 says : ” God is our refuge and strength. A help that is readily found in times of distress. ” She will be missed but not forgotten – Job 14 : 13-15. Sincerely
The Smith Family,
My sincere condolances on the loss of your beloved mother June.
I will always remember your mom for her kindness, and remember the patience she showed all of us ‘Tinkle Street kids’.
Your Mom would light up whenever I saw her these last years, and a smile would come to her as she told any news of her Children and Grandchildren. She definitely lived for her family.
I know how much you will miss her, but may you draw some comfort from knowing that June was loved, and will be missed, by so many.

It is with great sorrow that we heard of June’s passing. She was a kind & gentle spirit. My parents thought the world of her and your Dad. One thing that I particularly remember from early years in Yakima, is that your mom had the kindest eyes. Her smile lit up the room. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!
Thank you June for sharing your amazing family history and pictures with me for our mutual Hayes grandchildren. You were a special person.
It broke my heart to hear of June’s death today. Such a sweet, gentle, kind lady! My mom loved her so much and their friendship was so special. I am thankful for your mom and dad and the special friendship they had with my parents. I love to think that all four of them are having a great time together again. My heartfelt sympathy to your family.
Aunt June only knew how to love family and friends. So thankful for our visits and and lovely phone conversations. God bless and rest now in peace. Love and prayers to your friends and family.
