Constance “Connie” Ursula Ringuet Long

Constance "Connie" Ursula Ringuet Long, 91, of Richland, WA passed away at home in the presence of her family on Monday, September 22, 2014. Connie was born April 16, 1923 in Washington, Louisiana to Wilfrid and Lillian Ringuet. Though she was an only child, she enjoyed the love and companionship of her many cousins. She played clarinet and saxophone in traveling bands before graduating from high school in Eunice, LA. After high school, she set aside her dreams of becoming a doctor of pediatrics to care for her ailing father and to provide for her family as WWII broke out. Connie graduated from Vincent Business College in Lake Charles, LA and worked as an accountant in various jobs for the rest of her career.

In 1945, she moved with her parents to Richland, WA where she met John T. Long. On July 24, 1948, John and Connie were married at Christ the King Catholic Church by Rev. W.J. Sweeney. Connie remained an active member of the Catholic Church throughout her life. She was also a member and officer of The Daughters of The American Revolution DAR, Columbia River Chapter. In addition, she enjoyed dancing, music, golfing, traveling, genealogy, and spending time with her large family. She was a loyal friend who always put others before herself, and was caring, compassionate, inspiring, and great fun. Her ability to remember and deliver a joke was surpassed only by her father, Wilfrid.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfrid and Lillian, her husband, John, multiple cousins, and her grandson, Justin. She is survived by brother- and sister-in-law, Donald and Joan Lynch, her nine children, John Michael "Mike" Long, Linda Long, Constance "Connie" Pitts, James "Jim" Long, Joycelyn Toth, Kathleen "Kathy" Morshead, Theresa Long, Mary Etie, Frances Long, multiple sons- and daughters-in-law, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

There will be a rosary service at Einan's at Sunset on Wednesday, September 24th at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Richland, WA on Thursday September 25th at 2 pm, followed by a graveside service at Sunset Gardens and reception at Events at Sunset event center.

  • Dear Long Cousins-

I am so very sad about Aunt Connie’s passing. She was a wonderful woman with such a great personality. I know she was a fantastic mother to you all and a wonderful Aunt to us many cousinsand Godmother to several of us Lynches, me included: I am very very sorry for your profound loss but was heartened to hear that she was able to be surrounded by her loving family as she made her passing. Please know that Aunt Connie and you all are in my thoughts and prayers. Love to you all and God Bless–Katie

  • My friend Connie and I shared many good times with a drink and a few comments about life and people. I will always remember her courage and dignity under stressful times. Her family took great care of her and she shared her family with her friends. Keep an eye on me Connie and keep me out of trouble. Just flap your wings and tilt your crown.

  • My deepest sympathy. I only recently reconnected with Connie after several years of having lost contact with her. I am happy I was able to send her the book about our mutual ancestor, Dr. Francois Robin before she passed. I will always have fond memories of her trips to Louisiana to do genealogical research and the many happy hours we spent discussing our family lines. She will be deeply missed.

My love to all the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
