Robert "Bobby" D. Irwin Age 70, passed away June 4, 2014 at Kadlec Hospital. He was born June 19, 1943 in Denver, CO. Bobby moved to Richland when he was 6 mo. old from Colorado with two brothers and his parents so that his dad could work at Hanford. He spent most of his life in the Tri-City area; though he traveled to other areas for work, he always came home. In his younger years he played baseball and got into mischief with his buddies. He graduated as a Col-High Bomber in 1962. Afterwards he went to Burnley School of Professional Art and Columbia Basin College, becoming an accomplished artist. Bobby learned how to fish on the Columbia from his dad and grandpa, which was a passion for the rest of his life. He taught many of his friends to fish the river. They called him "Obi Wan Kenobi". Bobby held many positions at the Hanford Area, retiring as a maintenance engineer. In 2000, he married his sweetie Lanette. They were a match made in heaven. He always said he hit the Lotto when he married Lanette! Bobby was a member of the American Rifle Association and worked with children for gun safety. He was also a member of the Richland Rod-Gun Club and past member of the NRA. Bobby is survived by his wife, Lanette; son, Jay and his granddaughter, Drew; step-sons Jody Sherrie White, Tommy White and Troy Craig and his children; step-daughter, Leslie Craig and her children; 7 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter and brothers, John Irwin, Jr. and Jerry Irwin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Esther and grandparents. A private service will be held at a later date. My heartfelt condolences to Jerry, John, Lanette and all of the Irwin Family for their loss of Bobby. Bobby was such a major part of the old South end of Richland for so many years. I watched Bobby’s many antics along with some of the other boys from that end and always mum was the word. I am sure he observed many of mine and my sister’s antics as well, but he must have kept quiet too as we were never caught – or so we thought. I know Bobby will be missed by many. And if I find them, I will share the pictures of Bobby I have from one of the R2K’s which was just before our own Shelley McCoy died of his motorcycle accident. My prayers, sympathy and love go out to you all at this time. May God speed Bobby’s journey Home to Him and may he grant you all the courage to heal from this terrible loss. God bless you all. Love Judy Willox ’61

We, the class of l962 have lost another of our brightest stars from our class.
I’ve only known Bobby since junior high, but I only remember him smiling and adding cheer to each situation. Rest in peace, and if their are smiles up there, I know you will be at the head of the class
We were so sorry to hear about Bobby’s passing. Please know that you have been in our thoughts and prayers the past few days and will continue to be in the trying days ahead.

It’s sad to say goodbye to an old friend. Bobby was one of our south end neighborhood playmates in the 50s, and good friend until the end. We will miss his laugh, his jokes, his smile and his friendship.
I was sorry to hear of Bobby’s passing. I grew up in the southend of Richland and new both Bobby and Jerry for years. RIP my friend.
Members of the Richland Rod and Gun Club were sorry to hear about Bob Irwin’s passing. He was a member of the Club in the 70’s and was a certified Hunter Education Instructor teaching students under the age of 17 so that upon successful completion of the class they could purchase a hunting license. His participation as a volunteer was sincerely appreciated and contributed greatly to decreasing firearms related hunting accidents.
