Mary Helen O'Rell Davis August 14, 1933-December 12, 2011
Born eight days after the death of her father Alfred William Davis, Mary was raised in Walla Walla by her mother Helen C. Davis and grandparents Franklin L. and Mildred Googins.
She leaves behind husband Bill O'Rell, Cindi Anderson, Jevin Edger, Kevin O'Rell, Glenn & Wendy O'Rell , Michael & Dana O'Rell, four grandchildren, and many friends, nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother Helen C. Davis and brother James L. Davis.
After graduation from Walla Walla High School in 1951 she began her drafting career with the U.S. Corp of Engineers in their cartographic/mapping section. Later relocated to the Tri-Cities where she worked as a designer in the Piping Dept. prior to becoming an outstanding Graphics Artist & Illustrator. Mary retired from the Westinghouse/ Boeing Co. in 1988.
Mary enjoyed the chance to express her creativity and artistic talent. This facet of Mary's personality was apparent in all of her many interests. Mary was hooked on theater and was involved in many clubs and organizations: Richland Light Opera, Richland Players, producer of The Tailspinners children Theater. Mary's multi-interests included the Richland Genealogy Society, Friends of The Library, family travels, boating, camping, collecting "Wizard of OZ " and vintage children's books. Of course there was GOLF at many golf clubs. The Tri-Cities Country Club ladies group was very special to her with all of the activities, her role as their photographer, and as representative for the Washington State Grandmothers Association.
We would like thank: the Squires Residence, Kennewick, WA and the Lower Valley Hospice for their compassionate service.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, December 28 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Memories Sunset Event Center, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, WA.
Bill & family I am saddened to hear that we lost another wonderful lady. All my prayers are for you and your family. I enjoyed the time we shared at vitro. That was such a wonderful group of people. Remember God created us and then he decides to have us back with him. She will be in my memory always, take care and I will pray for you all.
Bill and Famiy–We were saddened to learn of Mary’s death. We have so many memories of her over the years, mostly from her days in Richland Light Opera Company. She was so kind, gentle and energetic. Working with her was always a joy. We will all miss her. Daryl and Pat Jonson
My cousin Janice sent me the sad news of Mary’s passing. My uncle was Dorsey Googins, Mary’s cousin. I never got to meet Mary, but by the obituary, she sounds like a lovely, very talented lady and I hope to get to know her during the resurrection period and of Christ’s millennium reign. May God comfort your family. With love, Donna Iverson
Mary…Rest in peace my Queen of Hearts. I will always remember you as the “Queen of Hearts” who entertained me and some of my childhood friends at a birthday party. You drove us to Farrel’s IceCream Parler on your elephant car. So much fun! I will remember you also as a fellow “gypsy” on our adventures with the Talespinners’ Gypsy Wagon. Rest in peace my Queen of Hearts.
