From Pasco, WA, US | Born in Wilmington, Delaware
Patricia Catherine Heckman
Patricia Catherine Ryan Heckman of Pasco, WA died Friday, October 30th at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA after a short but hard-fought battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded throughout the day by friends and family. She was 67 years old. Pat was born October 15th, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware to Paul and Dorothy Ryan.
Pat married Bob Heckman in 1960 and together had three children, Chris, Melanie and Dawn. A job opportunity brought Pat and Bob to Pasco in 1973, where she has made her home ever since. Pat and Bob were married for 28 years. In the 1970's, Pat was a homemaker and also enjoyed selling Mary Kay, there making a life long friend in Pat Powers. Pat always stayed in touch with close friends back East. All of her life she had great comfort in the love and support from her "chosen sister" Pat Miller of Delaware.
In 1988 she started working at Metal Fab Inc. in West Richland, and continued working for them until the time of her death. Metal Fab was not just a job to her, it was her second family. There she was lovingly named "Mother Metal Fab." She loved all the Metal Fab crew like they were her own.
Pat was the most loving and caring person, always putting other's needs above her own. She did this in all aspects of her life. Pat's home was always an open door for her children's friends. Later in life her grandchildren became her greatest joy. Pat had a love for smiley faces, bought them and had them everywhere.
In 2002, Pat got together with her soul mate and partner Clarence "Bing" Selvog. Bing gave Pat a love that can not be described in words. Bing brought Pat's dreams to a reality in so many different ways.
He took her on yearly trips to Hawaii, and already had this year's trip scheduled.... Pat will be walking the beaches in Heaven; sadly for her, she won't have Bing's hand to hold.
Pat is survived by her partner Bing Selvog; son Chris Heckman, his daughter Stephanie Heckman; daughter Melanie Huminsky, her husband Jordan, son Matt, and daughter Ryanne Horn; daughter Dawn Ellsworth, her husband Rob, sons Robbie, Riley and daughter Hailie Herron. She is also survived by her dear close friend Sandi Carter. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her Aunt, Mary Ryan.
Many thanks to The Tri-Cities Cancer Center, Dr. Klarnet, NP Diana, Nurse Summer, and Chemo Nurse Gloria. They helped comfort Pat in her battle as did the staff at Kadlec Medical Center. We can't express enough gratitude to Charlie Barnett owner of Metal Fab, for the many things he has done for Pat throughout this time.
Viewing will be held on Friday Nov. 6th from 5 pm to 7pm and Rosary from 7pm to 8pm at Einan's Memories at Sunset Event Center, 915 By-Pass Hwy. Funeral will be Nov. 7th at 11:00 am, also at Memories at Sunset, with graveside service and reception to follow. Pat loved the online guestbooks so please express your thoughts and memories of Pat on Einan's online guestbook, www.einansfuneralhome.com

Chris, Melanie and Dawn: Your mother was a wonderful person and like so many I’m sure, I considered her my second mother. I know that when I needed her she was always there for me. I am so sorry that she had to leave but I know Heaven holds a special place for her and she will always have a special place in my heart.
Pat was such a warm and loving person and she has always held a special place in my heart. I watched her girls and she was there for the birth of my first. She is one of a kind and the world will not be the same without her, but all those who know her are just so happy that we did and will miss her so much. Chris, Mel and Dawn, no one has to tell you how special your mom is, she is one in a million.
Pat is my aunt, she is wonderful lady, my condolences and prayers goes out to her family.
Chris, Melanie, & Dawn:
We are so sorry about the loss of your Mother. We were only fortunate enough to get to know her the last 4 years and always enjoyed family get togethers with her & Bing.
Your Mother was very sweet, kind, considerate, helpful & loving person. She treated our grandsons like they were her biological grandchildren.
We just don’t understand God’s choosing to call our loved ones home but we do know she is in a much better place with no more sickness & pain.
Our prayers are with you and words are just never adequate when it comes to trying to comfort someone in the loss of their loved one. I still want to call her Blanche!
God Bless you all;
Bob & Theta Ellsworth
Bing, I am so sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. Duke and I enjoyed visiting with her at Gesa events. May the Lord keep her in His loving arms, and give you comfort in your sorrow. Sandie
Going out-of-town with Bing and Pat on business was fun. Jon and Bing had meetings but Pat and I could talk and eat goodies. I did so enjoy our friendship.
Rest in Peace dear Pat…
To Pat-you are so missed. from “me”
Melanie and Dawn-thank you for sharing your mother with me. We enjoyed life together doing a wide varity of things-especially travelling in the motor home with the dogs to the ocean. She was a very “special person”. She is in a better place in God’s hands.
Blanche,
You are a great one. You had a great sense of humor, were always interested in what we had going on, and you always thought of us before yourself. I really enjoyed you in the short time I knew you.
You raised great girls and now they are raising great girls. That’s a legacy you’ve left that will continue on.
You will always be my “Blanche” and I will always be your “Pond Boy”.
Our friendship with Pat grew mostly from our friendship with her partner, Bing. Pat was a down to earth loving person who will most certainly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers of healing go out to Pat’s family and Bing.
Although I knew Pat for only 3 short years in Louisville, she was always an angel. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.
Pat was a very special person to us,I will miss calling her and teasing her about her age.

I am very sorry for your loss. Aunt PAT will be greatly missed. God bless you all
Patti’s Family and Bing: Patti is already sorely missed. I enjoyed working with her over our time together at Metalfab, she taught me alot. She always was a good listener, had broad shoulders and a BIG warm heart for everyone that needed her. She was the glue that kept Metalfab intact and had her trials trying to keep Herb straight. Patti’s work has not finnished, as she can still try keeping Herb on the right path.
Thanks kids for your Mom! Bing, sorry you didn’t have more time but you both loved the time you had. I love you both!
Boogie, Melanie and Dawn
Your mom was an awesome person, welcomed me right into her home. She always had a smile on her face and love in her heart for everyone who entered her home. I’ll keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers. Susan and boys Matt and Luke Sullivan
We would like to express our deepest sympathy to Pat’s family. We were fortunate to have Pat as a neighbor. She always had a big smile. We will miss her.
Patty was the glue that helped hold us together, she was honest, trusting and faithful to the end. She will be missed greatly.
Patty, I am so glad I was able to know you and work with you. You have helped me grow in so many ways. I miss the long phone conversations and someone to gossip with about whats going on. You have taught me so much, that I will tresure forever………
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. I love you.

Your mom was the BEST! I owed her and Bing a debt that could never be paid!! I will be sure to
try to pay it forward and think of them always.
May you all find peace knowing your mom is the definition of awesome. I saw her picture next to the word in the dictionary.
Much love to you from the Gotkiewicz Family
