Jacqueline Joan Carlson

Jacqueline Joan Carlson departed this life on July 11, 2009 surrounded by her family. Born in Seattle, Washington on February 16, 1928 to Lynn B. and Lillian Schultz Current, she was a long-time resident of West Seattle before moving to Richland, Washington in 2001 to be closer to her grandchildren. Jacee was confirmed at Hope Lutheran church in 1942, graduated from West Seattle High School in 1946, attended business college and worked as an elevator operator at Rhodes Department Store, a stenographer at the American Legion, and as a secretary at Monsanto Chemical Company until she married Walter L. Carlson, her husband of 58 years, on December 8th, 1951. She was a loving and loyal mother to her four children and three grandchildren, an avid sports fan, and an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, an editor of the Hope Herald, a member of the choir, the Mary Martha Bible Study group, and Women of Hope. She enjoyed writing, reading, and travelling to her vacation home in Surprise, Arizona. Her faith and her family were the most important things in her life. She is survived by her husband, Walter, her sister Barbara Feilberg and brother-in-law Ivan Dell Feilberg, her children Bruce, Laurie, Julie, and Jim Carlson, her daughter-in-law Lee Ann Carlson, her grandchildren Taylor Knipp, Lauren Carlson, and Nicholas Carlson, 7 nephews, 2 nieces, and 13 grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 3 pm at Hope Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to two youth education organizations, Seattle Lutheran High School and Project Excel www.projectexcelsb.org, or a charity of your choice.
