Deirdre Lambert
Our beloved sister Deirdre Lambert passed peacefully away on January 31, 2009, at the Yakima Valley Memorial hospital. She was born in Richland, WA on January 30, 1950, to Maurice and Phyllis Lambert - the third of five children.
Deirdre graduated from Columbia High School in Richland in 1968 and attended two years of college at Brigham Young University. About this time, Deirdre became afflicted with schizophrenia, a disabling mental illness. She lived with and was lovingly cared for by her parents in Richland until 1990, and then she moved to a group home in Sunnyside, WA. Deirdre later moved to Yakima, where she spent her last six years at Gleed Orchard Manor, an assisted living home. She was happy at Gleed Orchard and enjoyed her friends and the kind staff there.
Before her illness, Deirdre was admired, loved and enjoyed by all. She had an affinity for children and loved animals and the outdoors. She was a talented artist, enjoyed writing poetry, had a passion for snow skiing, as well as an infectious sense of humor and love of life. In her later years, Deirdre was remembered as a sweet lady with a ready smile and a love of music...and is greatly missed by her friends.
Deirdre is survived by her brothers Kerrick Lambert of Tacoma, WA, and Valkair Lambert of the Tri-Cities, and sisters Nyla Bergam of Austin, TX and Brinna Andrus, also of the Tri-Cities. We love you Deirdre and are grateful that you are free from your illness at last. We look forward to the day when we will be able to embrace you once more and thank you for the lessons you taught us.
A viewing will be held Friday, February 13, at Einan's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 14, at 10:00 am at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Our families lived near each other while we were growing up. I remember you and your two brothers.
I only found out today that you had passed on My condolences to the family.
When I think of Deirdre, I think of a kind, caring and quiet person with a funny sense of humor. Knowing Deirdre through church functions and school, she will be remembered as a gentle soul with a giving heart. I grieve in the fact that she had such turmoil and distress in her short life and struggled with difficulties beyond her control. My thoughts are with the family of this very special person called Deirdre.
My condolences to my old friend Kerrick and the rest of his family.
I remember her clearly as a child and I fell in love with the name
Deidre.
i got to know deirdre at gleed orchard manor, where i volenteered to do crafts with the residense while my dad visited my brother also a resident. she was shy, but i could tell she loved crafts.her gentle manor touched me. she loved working with purple. working with a group of people with similar disabilites helped me see beyond their illness to the cherished persons within. she was truley loved by those who worked with her.

My memories of Deidre are clear and filled with fondness. She was a beautiful child and extremely bright. We are just a few days apart in birthdays and I remember our Brownie Troup where her mom headed the group of fresh young faces. It saddened me tremendously to see her facing the mental challenges she developed in later years. Please know I cherish her memory and the person inside her personal prison. She is at peace.
I am really sorry to hear about Deirdre, my heart goes out to my foster family, I hope any of you get this message, from a long lost sister
